Little
Stars Pre-School Group were formed in 1999 and located at
the Headstone Lawn Tennis Club premises based in North Harrow,
Middlesex, UK.
The
PreSchool is open from 9am to 3pm operating with a key worker
system and catering for ages two to five years. There are
now different time zones with most under three year old starting
at 9am to 12 noon, whilst older children stay back to 12:25pm
or 3pm to learn more and become independent in readiness for
primary school intakes. There are also separate afternoon
sessions which start at 12:30pm to 3pm. The pre-school administers
a Nursery Funding Scheme for three and four olds which would
cut the cost of childcare fees substantially. Also accepted
are childcare vouchers issued by various employers to employees
with children which can also be used.
Little Stars Pre-School aims and objectives
are to strive to provide a high quality pre-school learning
environment cost effectively and by encouraging the children
to "learn
through play in a constructive manner" so
that when they do leave the establishment, the children are
adequately prepared and ready to enter in to a more formal
primary school setting.
Our Philosophy is quite simple but also effective
in creating an informal but structured learning environment
where the children can feel a real part of it without any
inhibitions so that can develop naturally and be able to express
themselves more freely. Learning should be fun! However making
learning fun through teaching can be a complex task.
Little Stars Pre-School achieves this
by the Children’s Play and Development Programme run
by our key workers and they have developed the following 10
Point Plan comprising of:
 |
- Stimulating children’s
imagination and creativity
- Social and Emotional Development –sharing
values and experiences
- Exploration of different materials, tools, music,
ideas and imagination
- Communication, and Language –through interaction
with others
|
- Reading, linking sounds and letters
- Respond to children’s needs by exploring
through their senses (cognitive development)
- Enrich language for thinking and writing skills
as well as drawing shapes, space and measure
- Mathematical development with use of numbers, counting
skills
- Develop muscular strength and co-ordination skills
through exercise
- Extend the children’s understanding of the
world around them.

General
Policy
Our
setting is based on equal opportunity and there will be no
discrimination on the grounds of race, sex, background or
disability.
Children come first to Little Stars and their
personal safety, interests and education are of paramount
interest to us for they are treated fairly and respected as
individuals in their own right who given the right amount
of attention will develop naturally and be ready for a formal
primary school education when they leave Little Stars Pre-School.
